Man, that's too bad. I never got to the big track (5/8) -- just the smaller oval. I remember seeing a Speedweeks midget race there. C.J. Rayburn brought his dirt car out at intermission and ran some exhibition laps on the asphalt, smoking his tires nearly all around the track. [edit] I forgot to mention there was a midget driver there named Hughes(?) from Texas who was paralyzed below the waist. He was extremely fast. He lost his life in a race later that year. /[edit]

My list of short tracks attended but closed is larger than tracks attended but still open. Pretty sad.

Is this the track that the Hooter Pro Cup Series used to race at. Is that series still around?

Yes, and they had a Hooters Pro Cup race at USA International Speedway earlier this year. There was another Hooters Pro cup race scheduled there later in the year but with the track closing that event is canceled.

ARCA also had 1 race there last year.

They also tore up a lot of cars on that track. From what it looked like on TV, it was a "momentum" track where you had to "sweep" into the corners.

I think Mike Eddy won the first ASA race there, but it's been a while.

The only races from there that I saw on tv was the Hooters Pro cup races. They do tear up a lot of cars there, but that happens in every Hooters Pro cup race on every track. I did attend the ARCA race though and I don't remember there being too many wrecks, at least not nearly as many as Procup.
